Nintendo announced a sequel to 'Zelda: Breath of the Wild,' and fans are freaking out
Say goodbye to your social life, because Nintendo announced a sequel to 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' at E3!
The original game was launched alongside the Switch in March 2017, and brilliantly reinvented the franchise. Hearkening back to the spirit of the first Zelda in 1986, Breath of the Wild featured an nonlinear story in a massive open world where players could lose themselves for hours - possibly days. Critics gave it numerous 'best of the year' awards and it is considered one of the greatest video games ever made.

Nintendo made the surprise announcement by dropping a teaser trailer at E3. We see Link and a short-haired Zelda traveling through Hyrule, indicating some time has passed since 'Breath of the Wild' ended. We also see a monstrous mummified ginger awaken that appears to be the evil Ganon. The tone is much darker than the previous game, giving some fans welcome Majora's Mask vibes.
Following the announcement, 'Zelda' began trending on Twitter, although most of the chatter is about Zelda's' spiffy new haircut. Fans are already drawing the princess with her adventure-ready blonde bob, because of course they are. She got her hair did, everyone!
Nintendo did not release announce a release date or show footage of actual gameplay, but hey, a sequel to 'Breath of the Wild' is still pretty exciting news. Feel free to spend the whole day making the Zelda 'secret sound' and yelling "LISTEN" at people like Navi.
