These three clues nearly revealed Meghan Markle's pregnancy

They dated, got engaged, wed, and now - drumroll please - the Duke and Duchess are expecting their first child!

Isn't love grand?

In a statement released this morning, Kensington Palace revealed that the royal bébé is due in spring 2019. "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019," the announcement read.

"Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public."

As could be expected, Meghan and Harry chose to keep the news private for the first few months. However, Rebecca English - royal correspondent at the Daily Mail - divulged that the erstwhile actress has already had her 12-week scan, which means that the royal bub has, quite literally, been hiding in plain sight for twelve whole weeks.

Of course, there's been constant speculation that the Duchess could secretly be pregnant since the royal wedding in May - but looking back over the last few months - there have been a plethora of not-so-subtle clues that could have potentially revealed Meghan's pregnancy. Here are three of them...

1. The purple folders

Right before Kensington Palace's announcement, the Duke and Duchess had just landed in Sydney to begin their first royal tour as a married couple. Straight off a 22-hour flight, the couple looked as glamorous as ever, however, media outlets were quick to point out that Meghan was carrying some rather strategically placed props: two large, purple folders, which she held across her stomach.

2. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's wedding

Last Friday, the Duchess of Sussex attended Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's nuptials in an loose-fitting, navy Givenchy coat, which she never took off. While Givenchy is one of the 37-year-old's favoured designers, it was an unusual choice for Meghan, who usually opts for sleek, tailored ensembles.

Of course, this sartorial choice sent the rumour mill into overdrive, with a number of fans of the royal family pointing out that the coat would be the perfect way for Meghan to disguise her blossoming pregnancy.

3. Meghan's hair

When paying a visit to Loughborough University for the Coach Core Awards, Meghan raised a few eyebrows by debuting a new hairstyle. Instead of wearing her signature messy bun, the Duchess wore her hair loose in a super-sleek, straight style.

This isn's particularly out of the ordinary, until you think about her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. The Duchess of Cambridge changed her hairstyle right before each of her three pregnancies was announced, with the thought that the altered look would distract from any other changes - for example, a growing belly!
