'Friends' star Matt LeBlanc shares hilarious story about Marcel the monkey

If you're a Friends fan, you'll no doubt remember Ross's white-headed capuchin monkey who loved to urinate on Monica's coffee table and had a penchant for The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

But it turns out that life really does imitate art - Marcel the monkey had a habit of causing complete chaos onset as well as in the fictional world.

This was highlighted when Matt LeBlanc recently stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live and shared an amusing anecdote about the michevious primate, who was a girl named Katie in real life.

When asked about Katie, the actor claimed that he enjoyed working with her - but there was one Friends star who was definitely not a fan. Namely, David Schwimmer.

"I liked the monkey! I like animals, and the monkey was really cool," the 51-year-old said. "Schwimmer... Not so much. He's the one that had to work with it the most, so he was like, 'Again with the monkey?' But I got along great with it."

The Episodes star went on to tell a hilarious story about a time when Katie disappeared into the ceiling and the whole show was delayed as they tried to get her down.

"One time, we're shooting a scene with the monkey," he said. "You know, sound stages are huge. The lights are hanging from the grid, and they go way up on these chains and the ceiling's like, 60 feet or whatever it is. The monkey disappeared right to the ceiling into the blackness of the stage."

He continued to joke: "So all the actors were like, 'OK, I guess we're on a five. I'll see you later, I'll be in my room.' It took like half an hour to get it down, waving mealworms up on the stage."

While Katie was apparently not the best cast member to work with, she is actually one of the most successful post-Friends.

Ross's white-headed capuchin monkey has appeared in 30 Rock, George of the Jungle, Flintstones II: Viva Rock Vegas, Outbreak, Addicted To Love and Instinct.

In addition, she went on to become the Rally Monkey for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim baseball team and pose alongside Kendall Jenner in a Mario Testino photo shoot for Allure Magazine. Not bad for a runaway monkey, eh?

In the same interview, the Man with a Plan star talked about how he had more fun doing a show in front of a live audience.

"A live audience show, that's what Friends was, and it's kind of like what this is," he said, gesturing to Jimmy's crowd and jokingly screaming along with them. "To work in front of a crowd is the ultimate soundboard, cos if you say the joke in the scene and you hear crickets, it's probably not funny. It's nice to know."

He added: "They're both fun. In front of a crowd, it's kind of a little bit broader strokes, when it's single camera, no crowd, you can spend more time on the miniature of every little thing, gets a little monotonous."

Wherever you wanna act Matt, it's fine by us - we'll be there to watch you!
