Prince Harry and Meghan Markle broke their pregnancy news to the Royal Family at the 'worst possible time'

In case you hadn't heard the happy news, Meghan Markle is pregnant!

After months of speculation, it was finally announced this morning by Kensington Palace that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were expecting their first child.

In a statement, the loved-up couple thanked the public for all of their support and confirmed that their baby was due in spring 2019.

"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.

"Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public."

So, fans of the royals found out today, but when did the pair break the news to the Windsor family?

It's been reported that Harry and Meghan revealed their big secret at the worst possible time: namely at Princess Eugenie's wedding last weekend.

On Friday, the ninth in line to the throne married Jack Brooksbank in a lavish ceremony in St. George's Chapel, followed by an afternoon reception in Windsor Castle.

Harry and Meghan attended both events - along with all the major members of the British royal family - ahead of their hotly-anticipated 16-day tour which will take in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.

As it was alleged by the Daily Mail that Meghan and Harry shared their happy news on Eugenie and Jack's wedding day, people took to social media to share their thoughts - and, needless to say, they weren't impressed.

Many people were appalled by the claim, with dozens accusing the former American actress and her husband of deliberately outshining the 28-year-old princess on her big day.

"The news said Meghan and Harry told the Royals about the baby at Eugenie's wedding. That's a bit of a sh**ty thing to do on someone else's wedding day," wrote a Twitter user going by the username @Blackhalo72 .

Presenter and DJ Ashley James agreed that they had stolen her thunder, slamming the royal pair for their apparent lack of etiquette. She tweeted: "So happy for Meghan and Harry... But they announced it at Eugenie's wedding? If I ever get married my friends and family better keep their engagements and baby announcements off my wedding day."

Soon after news of the pregnancy was released to the public, Eugenie's mother, Sarah Ferguson, took to Twitter to remind everyone of the wedding at the weekend.

Instagramming a picture of the bride and her father, Prince Andrew, just half an hour after, Fergie wrote: "So proud of Eugenie #wedding @[email protected]".

The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are said to be 'delighted' for Harry and Meghan.

Doria Ragland, the mother of the Suits Star, is also "very happy about this lovely news" and "looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild".

Congratulations Harry and Meghan! And, of course, Eugenie and Jack!
